Born
in the small town of Ruckersville, Virginia on November 25th,
Tommy Wood cut his teeth on country music by listening to
his mom’s Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn albums.
Tommy went through his adolescent and teenager
years dreaming of becoming a country music artist and after receiving an
associate’s degree in college he decided that the time was right to
follow his dream.
Tommy started
playing drums for the band Crossfire and after meeting some of his
greatest influences such as George Jones, Tracy Byrd and Trace Adkins;
he knew that it was meant for him to take center stage.
Tommy has been
performing with his band Nite Shift since that time and he released his
first Nashville produced CD containing 10 tracks written by some of
Nashville’s most prestigious songwriters.
A trip to Kansas and Missouri produced his first video for the
song “I Tripped Over Your Memory” which was awarded video of the
week on Nashville Showcase in October of 2002 and has been airing on
Great American Country.
Tommy’s first
national release to radio “I Tripped Over Your Memory” scored his
first #1 single on Inside Country in April 2003.
He followed this up with his second release “The Book” which
scored another #1 single on Indie World in July of 2003. Tommy toured in 2004 and then 2005 brought him
back to the studio in Nashville to record a 3-song project with producer
Dave Fowler.
2006
has brought more excitement for Tommy Wood as his touring
schedule continues to increase as well as his special guest appearances
in Nashville.
Tommy
also caught
the eye of Skyline Management Group who has set many goals for
him, which includes a trip back into the studio with talented producer
Dave Fowler by summer’s end.
The
first song off of the project will be “Outta California” and will be
impacting radio June 11, 2007.
Tommy's
2nd release " I Can See You Lovin' Me", from his upcoming
album "Outta California" will Impact Radio February 12,
2008.
Tommy's
impacts radio again June 1st with his hit song "Two Little
Feet"
